What Do Most Health Insurance Policies Cater For

Making a financial arrangement for when you may have you're sick that stops you from living a normal life or is life threatening is not the simplest thing in the world but critical illness insurance covers this very real contingency. Providing monetary peace of mind for your family by taking out critical illness protection, for a mere few bucks each week should something occur to you, does not to seem as important to most of us as having that extra, luxury cup of coffee each day during luncheon.

The most health insurance policies now cater for many of the more standard sicknesses and because figures show that there is a good chance you will suffer one of these at some stage in your life, it is a worthwhile plan to have. Recent studies have shown that one in five males will, unfortunately contract a life-threatening illness before they reach retirement age. That same study also shows that women are only slightly less likely with a one in six chance, to be impacted by a critical condition prior to retirement.

Specialists are of the opinion that the main reason for individuals failing to start a health program is an ignorance of the risks of being impacted by it. Protection of mortgage payments is listed as the number one reason why individuals decide to have critical illness cover cover. Today, critical illness security and life insurance can be linked directly with mortgage repayments.

More and more individuals are starting to employ the facilities provided by the Internet to study and purchase insurance plans, including critical illness protection. Regrettably, being a relatively new facility, there are new problems that occur as more companies start offering services over the Internet for the first time. The reason for this lies in the fact that most critical illness cover providers call for their applicants to undergo an independent medical exam prior to the program being issued in an effort to stop any possible fraudulent claims in the future. If you're in the awkward position of having to make a claim on your insurance , the last thing you want is callous hassle or apparent non-cooperation from your insurer.

The One thing to study though if decide to apply for a health policy is if you are a smoker, and that includes anyone who has smoked within the last twelve months, because you are viewed as a higher risk applicant. It is now thoroughly acknowledged that smoking is dangerous for you and as a consequence your monthly insurance installment will cost more.

For the most part though, when you apply for any type of health insurance, the company will look at your age, health, workplace, environment, activities and so forth. A typical insurance will cover you if your medical prognoses are terminal or life-threatening, as well as cover you if you require certain surgery - the insurance will also] address your permanent job loss due to sickness. There can be no argument about the peace of mind that having a critical illness cover policy in place can bring to somebody who has a close family and monetary obligations.

Health Insurance Terms

Understanding Health Insurance Terms

When searching for a health insurance plan or after one has already signed up, the plan terms, or descriptions of provisions and coverages can be hard to understand.

Deductible
The deductible refers to the amount of money that the insured would need to pay before any benefits from the health insurance policy can be used. This is usually a yearly amount so when the policy starts again, usually after a year, the deductible would be in effect again. Some services, like doctor visits, may be available without meeting the deductible first. Usually there are separate individual deductible amounts and total family deductible amounts.

Co-insurance
This is the amount that would need to be paid by the insured before the insurance pays and in addition to the deductible. Some health insurance plans will let the insured use some services with just the coinsurance payment, like visiting the doctor, even before the deductible is met.

Co-payments
This is another term used for, or in place of, coinsurance.

Out-of-Pocket
This is the cost one would pay out of their own pocket. An out of pocket expense can refer to how much the co-payment, coinsurance, or deductible is. Also, when the term annual out-of-pocket maximum is used, that is referring to how much the insured would have to pay for the whole year out of their pocket, excluding premiums.

Lifetime Maximum
This is the most amount of money the health insurance policy will pay for the entire life. Pay attention to individual lifetime maximums and family lifetime maximums as they can be different.

Exclusions
The exclusions are the things that the insurance policy will not cover.

Pre-existing Conditions
This is something someone had before obtaining the insurance policy. Some plans will cover pre-existing conditions while others may completely exclude them and, in addition, some health insurance plans will cover pre-existing conditions after a certain time period.

Waiting Period
This is the time one would have to wait until certain health insurance coverages are available.

Coordination of Benefits
If the insured has available two or more sources that would cover payment for certain conditions, such being under a spouse's insurance plan along with their own, the insurance company would not pay double benefits. In this case the health insurance company would coordinate benefits to make sure each plan pays a portion of the service.

Grace Period
This is the amount of time one has to pay their health insurance premium after the original due date and before insurance coverage would be canceled.

Car Insurance

Car Insurance
What is a Declarations Page?

Auto insurance declarations page. When reading through the policy, you’ll notice what’s known as the declarations page. This page is of vital importance, as it contains the most pertinent information you will need regarding your auto insurance policy. As you read through it, you will be given a basic outline of your policy, along with the insurer’s information and the driver’s information.

To break the declarations page down further, we’ll discuss each aspect presented on the page, and this is done in no particular order, meaning your declarations page may or may not have the same information in the same order listed here. First we’ll mention the auto insurance company’s information on the page. The declarations page will have the name of the insurance company, as well as their contact information including a phone number and address. If you need to contact the company, the information is readily available here and also on the insurance card that you should have somewhere in your car in case it is immediately needed.

You should find your policy number. Your policy number is a way the auto insurance company can identify you without using your name. This lessens confusion as there is typically more than one client sharing the same first and last names. A policy number can include numbers and letters together, or just numbers. You will need to know your policy number any time you want to contact the insurance company. You can also find your policy number on the insurance card.

Information regarding the coverage you have purchased is also included in the declarations page. The coverage you purchased will include the minimal requirements provided by your state, as well as any additional coverage options you felt the need to purchase. Bodily injury liability, property damage liability, personal injury protection, and uninsured motorist bodily injury may be some of the coverage options you purchased that will be listed on the declarations page.

The cost of each coverage you purchase for your auto insurance policy will also be listed on this page. The price of your policy is determined by individual factors, including the cost of coverage you added to your policy. If you carry additional coverage options past the state’s requirements, you can look at these “extra” options and decide if they fit into your budget, or if you can add more coverage for added protection.

Your deductible amounts may also be listed in the declarations page. A deductible amount is the amount of money you are willing to pay, out-of-pocket, when you make a claim to the auto insurance company. Any time you file a claim and expect the insurer to cover an accident-related cost, the insurer requires you to pay upfront a deductible. This amount can range from $250, to $1,000 or higher. The lower deductible you choose for your policy, the more expensive your policy premium will be.

Look for the policy periods on the declarations page to find out when your coverage begins and when it ends. You should also be aware that you have the option with the insurer to automatically renew your policy when it expires. This helps to avoid any time period of not carrying auto insurance, known as a policy lapse. It is illegal to drive a vehicle without proper auto insurance so it is vital that the policy always be in effect.

You will also notice your information, or the policyholder’s information, listed on the declarations page. Your name, address, and phone number will be listed on the page. It will also have information regarding the vehicle(s) you have insured with the company, such as the year, make and model of each vehicle. Always keep this information up-to-date with the auto insurance company so they can contact you easily with any questions they have or information they need.

Sometimes changes are made to a policy by the insurance company. If you have any questions regarding changes that were made to your policy without your knowledge, contact your insurer immediately.

When you receive your policy information in the mail, it is important that you read through the declaration page and put the proof of insurance card in your vehicle. Reviewing the declarations page will help you better understand your policy (if you don’t already have an understanding of it). If you decide you want to purchase more coverage, give your auto insurance company a call and see what they can provide you. It is always best to carry more coverage than less, as this will protect you and your assets if you are ever the cause of a major accident.

Another importance of reviewing your declarations page is to make sure it states you have the coverage you wanted to purchase. Just because an agent over the phone says you have such-and-such coverage doesn’t mean it will apply if that coverage is not marked on your declarations page. Whatever is written on your declarations page is the policy you have for the vehicles listed on the declarations page. Check the information provided on the page is correct before you are put in a situation (like an accident) where you need to file a claim and are expecting certain coverage.

You may think the declarations page is just one more nagging piece of paperwork, but in actuality it is the most important piece of paper that you have for your auto insurance. You will need to review your declarations page every time your policy renews to make sure no coverage was accidentally dropped or so you know your information is correct. Don’t disregard your declarations page as it comes in the mail or think of it as worthless because you think you already know what coverage is on your auto insurance policy.

Home Insurance Claim

How to Make a Successful Home Insurance Claim

To fill a successful home insurance claim is not always an easy task to accomplish. There are plenty of hoops to jump through when filing such a claim, and if you aren’t sure how your insurance company and adjuster calculate depreciation for your home and property, you can risk losing thousands. In order to get the most out of your home insurance, when you need it most, it is important to understand how to file your claim successfully.

Before filing a home insurance claim, you should know its main purpose. Homeowners insurance provides protection for you, as a homeowner. This type of insurance can help save you the financial loss experienced with the damage or loss of your home, and often, the contents within it. There is a wide array of home insurance plans available and many vary in your particular region.

If you are planning on filing a home insurance claim, it is important to know and understand what type of claim you will be filing. The approach homeowners should take when filing a home insurance claim will depend on what type of loss you have experienced; theft, damage to the property, or a combination of losses. The type of claim will also differ if the loss was caused by a natural disaster. Some home insurance plans also cover injuries that have taken place on the premises.

When you have experienced a theft or damage to property at your home, you must first and foremost inform the law enforcement authorities. This is very important, even if expensive items are not stolen or damaged. Always be sure to keep several copies of the claim for your records and the insurance company.
Before heading to the police, be sure to make a complete list of the damaged and stolen items so that all are included on the claim. Only the items on the police claim will be covered. Once you have made the police claim, contact your home insurance company and always ask if there are any special steps you need to take to ensure that the process moves smoothly.

For filing home insurance claims involving injuries, you must ensure that prompt and proper treatment be administered. Injuries that are covered by home insurance usually include sudden falls or injuries caused by tools. Always be sure to keep a copy of any medical receipts and prescriptions for the insurance company.

Natural disasters are also covered by home insurance policies, although you will want to make sure before making a claim that you have coverage. Some home insurance policies offer natural disaster coverage automatically, whilst others only offer it as an extra. Once you have experienced a natural disaster, contact both the insurance company and your local government to ensure quick and immediate assistance. Always cooperate with authorities and follow all policies and don’t forget to fill out the necessary claim forms, otherwise your claim will be denied.

Overall, making sure that you have plenty of documentation and backup is essential to filing a home insurance claim successfully. It is a great idea to keep a camera handy and take pictures of any damage, injuries, or items within the home, as this will help your claim go a little more smoothly. It is important to keep a calm head and be patient when working with the police and insurance adjusters.

Buy Auto Insurance On Line

If You Buy Auto Insurance On Line,
How is Payment Made?

Q: I am thinking of buying car insurance online instead of through my traditional provider. I am used to paying my agent through a check. Can you tell me how will I pay if I buy auto insurance on line? Do I have to pay only through my credit card, or are there other options?

A: Most online insurance providers support a number of payment options. You can pay online through your credit card, through Paypal, through a bank transfer, or even through the traditional check. Just confirm from your auto insurance on line service provider. They will have the necessary details.

If you are technically savvy, and also aware of the precautions you need to take while making payments online, it is certainly convenient to be able to pay for your insurance easily from your home.

Many auto insurance on line websites will also set up an auto debit mechanism if you authorize it, so you will not even have to remember that you have to pay the insurance bill. But I recommend that you make it a practice to pay all your bills manually on a specific day each month. It will help avoid nasty surprises about your bank balance expectations.

Lastly, we highly recommend that you compare auto insurance rates from other companies online. In many cases, drivers are overpaying for their coverage and are completely unaware of this fact. Spending a few minutes doing some comparison shopping will quickly reveal if you are paying too much for your coverage, and may end up saving you quite a bit of money on your premiums as a result.

iPhone Insurance

iPhone Insurance in UK
Why protect yourself?

Unless you have been living under a rock for the last few months, you will have heard of the iPhone and all the fuss around it.

It is a handheld device from Apple, the makers of the iPod and the Apple Mac computer. It combines a mobile phone with an easy-to-use internet browser, and a big iPod (a music/sound MP3 player). So, in one device, you can listen to your favourite songs or radio shows, talk with your friends, and check the web for well, whatever you want to check the web for.

Anyone who has not yet used an iPhone is usually confused or refuses to see the brilliance of it, saying it is all a big load of hype and marketing, in order to sell the device.

Anyone who has used an iPhone is usually stark raving mad about it, how wonderful it is, how great it is, how it is the next major breakthrough in telecommunications and gadgetry etc etc.

The truth is, in the next few years we will all be looking back on the iPhone as a groundbreaking item that many other manufacturers copied. It is far more advanced than any other phone or PDA handeld device available - by a long way, though there are a number of copycat manufacturers rushing to create something close.

The super-advanced technology means one thing to the price of the iPhone: It is not cheap.

There are a few knock-on effects of the iPhone being expensive:

1. iPhone owners will be quite careful of their new baby
2. Others will be jealous of your iPhone - because you are the proud owner, and
3. Criminals will specifically target the iPhone for theft.

This being the case, you would imagine that there is a lot of iPhone Insurance policies available. Sadly, this is not the case.

There is only 1 policy that specifically covers the iPhone as a stated "iPhone Insurance" (more on that later) but there are a few other options.

One option that is often touted as a way around getting specific insurance for an expensive item it adding it to your household home insurance. This can work, but there are 3 key drawbacks to doing this.

1. Usually house insurance policies have a FAR higher excess fee than any specific insurance policy, often £150 or more.

2. If you make an insurance claim (albeit relatively small) for your iPhone on your home insurance, your house insurance premium will likely be more expensive next year. It will go through the roof.

3. How long would you like to be without your iPhone? You might expect it to be a long while for your house insurance to process a claim. Household insurers have been known to take weeks to solve a claim. Most customers cannot accept to wait weeks for their phone to be replaced. Are household insurers experts at replacing phones?

Would you go to get your teeth fixed in a general hospital? Most likely not. You would go to the specialist - the expert - the dentist. Similarly, it might be a wise move to use an expert insurance firm to insure your iPhone.

This all leaves the question - What specialist insurer is there, that protects you and your iPhone with a proper level of cover AND is cost effective?

Let's look at what 'cost-effective' is:
The iPhone is only available on the O2 network. You can get an unofficial iPhone, which has been unlocked, to work on other networks, but lets look at the official picture.

If you needed to get a replacement iPhone then the only real way to do it is to buy a Pay As You Go iPhone from O2 which is about £360. If you are on contract you are still going to have to pay the monthly line rental costs.

So any insurance that would get you a replacement iPhone for a considerable amount. Ideally it needs to be as low cost as possible, but equally obviously, there is going to be some cost involved in the replacement.

You would then also want to consider what situations you want the insurance to protect you from - what level of cover do you need? iPhone theft is probably the most obvious possibility, but do you want to be protected if you simply lose your iPhone? Or if your iPhone is damaged? Do you need cover while you are abroad?
Do you need extended warranty (ie if the iPhone simply stops working or malfunctions after the 12 month statutory manufacturer's warranty)?

You need to think about this before you spend any money on what you think is 'insurance' for you iPhone - but actually might not be adequate protection. You could be paying for only one of these levels of cover.

Wherever you chose to get your iPhone Insurance from, one thing is clear - once you have got you iPhone and you start to realise what a great piece of kit it is, you are probably going to want to protect it with some kind of insurance that protects you - just make sure you get an expert to provide your iPhone insurance.

Tips For Obtaining Low Cost Home Insurance

The low cost home insurance is not hard to find if you know how to find it and one of the best ways of doing so is to allow a specialist broker to search around on your behalf for the quotes. The quotes will be delivered to you and you do not even have to move out of your chair to get them. You can then take your time and compare those quotes from some of the top UK providers.

There are many ways that you can keep the cost of home insurance down and one of them is to increase the amount of excess you are willing to pay.
All providers will add excess onto a policy which is the amount that you will have to pay towards a claim, if of course you make one. By offering to pay more for this excess you will save on the monthly premiums. However you will have to take into account that you would have to find the excess outright if you should need to make a claim.

The home insurance will include theft of items from your home so you can make savings on the premiums which allows you to obtain low cost home insurance the safer your home is. To do this you can install a good quality alarm on the property, install window locks and ensure your property is surrounded by good quality fencing.

A policy will also include loss of belongings by fire and again one way of cutting down the premiums could be by installing such as fire alarms. Often you will be asked if you smoke and non smokers might be offered cheaper premiums as they could be seen as less of a risk than those who smoke.

The premiums for home insurance are based on how much you wish to insure. If you were to take a wild guess and this guess is way over the cost of replacing all of your possession in the worst case scenario, you would be paying out for insurance you do not need.
To ensure that you do not over insure yet do not under insure you need to take an inventory of all of your belongings. This means that you need to go around your home and jot down the cost of all items not forgetting such as possessions in the attic, cupboards or drawers.
The figure you get to is the sum you need to insure against if the worst case scenario should happen and you lost all your belongings in a fire.

Finally one way of obtaining low cost home insurance is to never just renew the policy year after year. Just because you got a great deal on your home insurance last year does not necessarily mean that you will get the best deal this year.
Insurance brokers will usually increase their premiums each year and if you just renew you could find that you are paying well over the odds for your home insurance. Again allow a specialist broker to make a search for the lowest premiums and then compare the premiums at your leisure.

Cheap Travel Insurance

Holidays Where Cheap Travel Insurance is a MUST

If you're going on holiday this year then there may be a temptation to skimp on cheap travel insurance in a bid to cut corners and save money. With the worsening economic situation, it is understandable that travellers want to make cutbacks and not shell out on unnecessary extras.

The cheap travel insurance is one thing you cannot afford to skimp on however, especially with as many as one in three Brits claiming on their travel insurance after going on holiday. If you are prepared to shop around then there are some excellent deals to be found and quality cover on the cheap. Travel insurance is needed on most holidays abroad, but for these three holidays it is absolutely essential:

Prague, Czech Republic
The Tourism to Eastern Europe has been growing in popularity steadily for a while now but the Czech Republic has probably got more of a boost in tourism than other surrounding countries. The capital Prague offers some stunning gothic architecture at the Prague castle which includes the St Vitus Cathedral.
Unfortunately, the darker side of Prague is notorious for petty crime, particularly pick-pocketing. Cheap travel insurance is an essential for a holiday in the Czech Republic but in Prague in particular, in case your wallet is stolen. Holidaymakers are also advised to take travellers' cheques with them instead of large sums of money.

Colorado, USA
If you're worried about the depreciating value of the pound against the euro but can't give up on the adrenaline rush of skiing, then Colorado is about as good as it gets. Your cheap travel insurance is well warranted here though, as is a crash helmet.
The Crested Butte resort was voted one of the most dangerous mountains in the US, and with extreme runs such as Body Bag it's not difficult to see why. For extreme winter sports like skiing and snowboarding http://www.uswitch.com/travel-insurance - cheap travel insurance is a pre-requisite.

Bangkok, Thailand
Thailand is the back-packers country of choice and for those travellers on a budget provides an excellent snapshot of Asia. Bangkok is an unusual blend of simple elegance and awe-inspiring extravagance. The Grand Palace is about as opulent a marvel as you will ever see but it's set against a backdrop of vendors selling succulent street food.

Thailand also dominates the travel insurance claims in the UK: from illness, to injury, to missing luggage or traffic accidents. Bangkok itself is responsible for some of the most numerous and varied travel claims on the planet, making cheap travel insurance a necessity for travellers visiting the Thai capital.

Travel Insurance

Travel Insurance
It pays to check the small print!

A common thread in most complaints over travel insurance is that ‘I didn’t realise I had to do that’ or ‘no-one told me I couldn’t do that.’
Whilst sometimes this is a totally justified call because miss-selling of travel insurance, though less frequent than in the past, still occurs, there is still a many people who take travel insurance out by simply ticking the box on the holiday booking form without as much as seeing what they are covered for.
This is far from ideal when it comes to making a claim because pleading ignorance is never a strong position to come from.

You can help yourself if you follow a few simple rules:

=Always get a report from an official source within 24 hours if something goes wrong. A police report for theft, a tour operator’s reports for baggage delay and loss, an airline letter if you suffer travel delay and a Property Irregularity Report before you leave the airport if your luggage is lost or delayed. Without these, you will find that insurers will not readily settle your claim.

=Know what valuables you are taking with you and take extra care of them. Valuables will be defined in your policy but generally includes all jewellery, mobile phones, computer games and equipment and cameras. Add to this list the personal money you take with you. By extra care, we mean you should lock them away in a safe in your room or carry them with you. They should never be left unattended and never in checked in baggage otherwise this will invalidate a claim.

=Keep receipts. Not only will this help to substantiate your claim but you are more likely to get close to value of the lost items back, subject to wear and tear. If no receipt is provided then the maximum amount that will be paid back will be capped at a low level. If several unreceipted items are claimed then this will also raise suspicions that the claim is fraudulent and could be investigated.

=Do call the Medical Assistance line if you have to go into hospital abroad or need medical treatment that could be costly. It is worthwhile doing this for anything that could be above £250. Once this is on record, you are generally well covered up to the agreed amounts.

=Finally, whilst this guidance is for travel insurance policies, many people will have a household policy in force that should cover ‘all risks’ up to a set value and this could also be used for a claims for personal belongings lost or stolen whilst on holiday but do check the small print again to see what exclusions apply.

Already Have Life Insurance Through Work?

Employees pay premiums for employer-sponsored health coverage based on risk profiles that take into account factors such as the age and health of the entire group. That system can extend to life insurance as well. If you have a job, is your employer's life insurance program the best deal around? Not necessarily!

The convenience factor of having a company benefits representative do make the framework for a life insurance policy, then enroll you for automatic deductions, is appealing; but it may come at a price. Especially in larger companies, employees are paying a premium based on the risk profile of the entire employee base. That means if you're a healthy 30-something, you could be paying a premium that factor in employees twice your age and may have health problems. Not necessarily a good deal for you.

Even if you have a policy through your job, you can think about canceling your work-sponsored policy after you get a more affordable and customized term life insurance policy in place.

Life Insurance Coverage for Single Adults
If you are single and do not own a home, your life insurance needs are probably not as high as they are at other stages of your life. If you are single, who would assume the burden of paying for your final costs if you were to pass away? This may fall to your parents, who have hopefully planned well for their retirement but are also likely to be living on a fixed income, one which does not take into account the possibility of you passing away before them.

Single women often lack adequate life insurance coverage. Some studies show that as much as 64% of American women do not carry any life insurance. Many single women, especially those with children, may be on a tighter budget than dual-income couples, and as such, feel they can't afford life insurance.

Life Insurance Needs for Married Couples Without Children
If you are married, but don't have any children, you may also think you don't need life insurance coverage. It is still important to think about whether your spouse would be able to cover all costs if you were to pass away, especially if you own property or have large debts to pay off. If you do eventually decide to have children, remember to reevaluate your life insurance needs before your children are born.

Life Insurance Needs for People who are Retired
Life insurance needs may not be as high as they are at other stages in life for those that are newly retired. Even though your children may be grown and on their own, and your spouse may be able to live comfortably on his or her retirement savings, there are many special circumstances in which they may find themselves in financial trouble if you were to pass, or vice versa. If you are very ill before you pass away, you may incur significant health costs, many of which may be passed on to your spouse or children.

Many seniors may have to live with a child if they are on their own and need help; and this may put a financial burden on the affected family members. There are also funeral costs to consider. It is important to ensure that your family members can recoup any financial losses after you pass away.

The Life Insurance coverage is to protect you and your loved ones in the unfortunate circumstance that you pass away. Make sure anyone who relies on your income is covered, or that any debts you may possess will not be passed on to loved ones. Term life insurance is an affordable way to cover your needs at any stage of life, and offers the added benefit of letting you choose your coverage amount and term length.

Understanding Health Insurance Terms

Understanding Health Insurance Terms
What Does that Mean?

When searching for a health insurance plan or after one has already signed up, the plan terms, or descriptions of provisions and coverages can be hard to understand. When one is reviewing the terms they often confusingly say, “What does that mean?”

Auto Insurance Declarations

Car Insurance
Auto Insurance Declarations

The auto insurance declarations page while discussing the topic of auto insurance, or while looking through the policy papers, new terms and information used can be confusing and add to the stress of understanding auto insurance.

Any changes, or endorsements, will also be listed here.

Other importance of reviewing your declarations page is to make sure it states you have the coverage you wanted to purchase.

Save Money on Health Insurance

Maternity is one of the single biggest determinants on health plan cost when researching individual health insurance plans in the state of California. It's easy to see why when a simple delivery can run $10,000 and an uncomplicated C-section can run $20,000. Maternity is probably the only health care service you can actually plan on to some extent. No one plans for a broken bone. Health care costs have spiraled up over the last years primarily because of hospital based care and maternity is deeply dependent on such care. So if maternity is something you may need now or possibly in the future, it's probably best to stop reading.
Be careful not to assume that you can get a non-maternity plan now to save money and switch in the future as you get closer to the need for maternity coverage. If your health changes or if you become pregnant, it might be impossible to switch to a plan that covers maternity.

Let's look at some plans on the market for people who will definitely not need maternity coverage. First, HMO (Health Maintenance Organization) type health plans have become pretty expensive in comparison with mid-level PPO options. The HMO plans usually cover maternity anyway which is partially why they are so expensive so we'll concentrate more on PPO plans which is were the market has been heading. PPO (Preferred Provider Organization) plans offer a full range of non-maternity health plans but on a practical sense, it comes down to really two ways of approaching health care needs.
Look at Anthem Blue Cross as an example since they are both a strong carrier and priced well. First, are we going for? Well, we want comprehensive coverage. This means we do not want to find big holes in our coverage later on relative to the other plans on the market.

Anthem Blue Cross Lumenos HSA plans (non-maternity option) or PPO $3500 HSA compatible health plan. This is a simple plan as far as health insurance is considered. Essentially, you have a high deductible for which all covered benefits are subject to. The Lumenos plans carves out some preventative benefit coverage which is very useful for those that require this. Either way, the theory is a high deductible to keep the cost down. Lumenos health plans are best suited for; First, Older individuals (since age is the primary driving force of cost). Second, people who are most interested in catastrophic health insurance to cover big bills. Third, those individuals that wish to take advantage of the the tax benefits of an HSA.

The pricing tends to be some of the lowest on the market for comprehensive coverage. Keep in mind that the deductible for two or more people on one policy is double and cumulative for all family members on the policy. For example, if one person's deductible is $1500, a family's cumulative deductible would be $3000 and all family members are working towards the same deductible.

Anthem Blue Cross Smart Sense PPO plans with no maternity coverage. The other suite of plans to compare is the Smart Sense PPO plans with Comprehensive RX. You have an option of deductible amount to choose from which drives the cost of the monthly premium. The major difference between these plans and the HSA plans mentioned above is that office copays and RX coverage is not subject to the main deductible. The main deductible is per person with the Anthem Blue Cross Smart Sense plans while the HSA plans are cumulative deductibles.

Health Insurance for Students

Health Insurance for Students
4 Affordable Options

If your son or daughter is getting ready to pack up and head off to college, don't forget to pack a little health insurance along with the futons and orange crates. After all, the student lifestyle of late nights, one-the-run nutrition, and germ-infested dorms is more than likely to require a few trips to the doctor.

However what is the best way to insure your student's health? The answer to that question depends on the type and quality of your existing health care plan. Here are four options you may want to consider.

1. Use the Student Health Plan -- Some families opt for the medical plan offered by the college. While this is a viable option if you don't have an existing health plan, it's important to realize that these college-sponsored health plans offer extremely limited benefits. While a student plan will usually pay for trips to the college health center, they usually charge up to 70 percent more, plus a deductible for additional medical care or testing, such as lab work, X-rays and prescriptions. In addition, most student health plans only cover care received at the student health center, meaning a trip to emergency room could be financially devastating.

2. Use Your Current Health Plan -- One alternative is to skip the student health insurance and keep you son or daughter on your own health plan. However, if your current plan is available to you through your employer, there is a good chance it is an HMO (Health Maintenance Organization). An HMO is the most restrictive type of health plan when it comes to choosing your doctors and medical treatment centers, and if your son or daughter attends school in another city or state, he or she will most likely need a referral to see a physician while at school.

3. Change Your Health Plan to a PPO --If an HMO is too restrictive for your current needs, this may be a good time to switch to a PPO (Preferred Provider Organization) that provides more flexibility in the healthcare providers you use. To receive maximum coverage, you need to use an in-network doctor, but your student would have the option of going out-of-network by making a small co-payment.

4. To change Your Health Plan to a combo HDHP/HSA -- You may have been reading about the benefits of the Health Savings Account (HSA) ever since it was first introduced by the Bush administration in 2003. An HSA allows you combine a High Deductible Health Plan with a designated savings account funded with pre-tax dollars. You use a debit card to access the account when you need to pay out-of-pocket medical expenses. This combination HDHP/HSA plan is a good strategy if you're self-employed and don't have an existing health plan, and it also provides good flexibility for both you and your student. But it works best when you have only occasional medical expenses, so if you or your student have chronic health problems that require frequent trips to the doctor or numerous prescriptions, it's best to opt for a traditional like an HMO or PPO.

You can always provide your son or daughter with a low-cost individual insurance policy. (Consider it an early graduation gift!) While not the cheapest choice, it's an excellent way to provide your student with security throughout the college years. After graduation, they can choose to maintain the policy on their own if they aren't covered by an employer-provided health plan.

Unless you have discovered the fountain of youth, death is the ultimate threat to your loved ones.

The death does not just entail the loss of a loved one. In many cases, death haunts people because of the series of events that it triggers. For example, the death of the breadwinner in the family is more than enough reason to have larger than life problems. Would you want your family to experience this kind of situation? The health life insurance in focus
A health life insurance is a kind of well, insurance, that covers a lot of things. Funeral costs are usually the major coverage of most health life insurance. In some cases, a health life insurance also provides people with the benefit of not worrying about hospital bills. There are also health life insurances that will provide your loved ones with certain amount of money after your death.

The different public and private institutions, health life insurances can be compared to social securities. People who have health life insurances are required to pay a minimum amount during a period of time. Once the insurance policy matures, the bearer of the health life insurance would be entitled to several benefits agreed in the policy.

The advantages of having a health life insurance
Having a health life insurance for your family will always provide you with a number of positive benefits. To give you an idea, here are just some of the things that you would enjoy for having a health life insurance:

• You’re insured ?

• No worrying about funeral expenses
Death may have its toll financially. As a matter of fact, funeral expenses can just aggravate the lost of the families left behind. Some sources say that funeral expenses costs an average of $10,000—an amount that not all families have. And since death is always unexpected, having a health life insurance that covers funeral expenses is like being prepared for the unknown.

Some health life insurance also covers giving certain amounts of money to the beneficiaries of the insurance holder. Depending on the type of health insurance plan, the funds could be received in bulk or in scheduled releases. Your Auto Insurance Policy

Understanding Your Auto Insurance Policy

More than 4 of 10 families survey by Trusted Choice who said they had a young driver move away from the home hadn’t updated their family’s auto insurance coverage to reflect that change. Of those who are frequent carpool drivers to a job, school or activities with children, an alarming 85% hadn’t changed their liability insurance coverage to reflect the increased risk of additional passengers in the vehicle.

New Homes can Affect Your Auto Insurance Coverage

If you have purchased property or a home since you first purchased your auto insurance policy, you may want to consider upping your Bodily Injury and Property Damage Liability coverage levels. If you own a home and make more than $75,000 a year, most insurance experts recommend that you own at least $100,000/$300,000 of Bodily Injury coverage and $100,000 total of Property Damage Liability coverage.

Remember to keep yourself adequately covered; while having the bare minimums required by each state may keep you in compliance with state laws, they may not be enough to protect your assets if you have a major incident. Insurance experts recommend that you review your insurance policy often and thoroughly.

Understand Your Car Insurance Coverage

While everyone that drives in this country has to have some form of auto insurance by law, many do not understand the basics of their policies. While we don't all have to be auto insurance experts, it is important to at least comprehend the major bricks that build our auto insurance policies.

There are five parts of a typical auto insurance contract (the titles of these sections may differ slightly from insurer to insurer, but they all address the same points):

Auto Insurance Policy Declarations
This part of your policy is unique to you; it contains the personal facts for drivers in your household such as name and address, make and model of your vehicle(s), vehicle identification number(s), policy number and policy duration. It also contains the basic type of coverage you purchased and your policy limits and deductibles. Tip: Make sure your information is accurate; your claim may be denied if you provide inaccurate information to your insurer.

Auto Insurance Policy Coverage Parts/Insuring Agreement

This section outlines the coverage options and coverage limits that you purchased, such as liability, medical, collision and comprehensive. This section basically outlines what your insurance company promises to provide in return for your payment, based on the coverages and coverage limits you selected.

Auto Insurance Policy Exclusions
Exclusions simply detail what is not covered by highlighting your policy's limitations. Combined with the section above, this ensures that you know exactly what will be covered when you make a claim. It also shows you some possible deficiencies that you might want to correct down the line.

Auto Insurance Policy Conditions
This is where the legal responsibilities of both the insured and the insurer are listed, including premium payment obligations, steps to filing a claim, and procedures for resolving disagreements.

Auto Insurance Policy Definitions
This section defines terms and outlines the rights of the policyholder and the insurance company. This section is often referred to as the "fine print."

Auto Insurance Policy Collision Coverage
This covers loss to your own auto caused by its collision with another vehicle or object. If you cause an accident, collision coverage will pay to repair your vehicle, and is normally the most expensive part of an auto insurance policy. You must choose a deductible, which is the amount you, the insured, must pay before the insurance company pays the remainder of each covered loss. The higher the deductible, the lower the premium costs. However, keep in mind that this is the amount you must pay (generally to the repair shop) if your vehicle is damaged, so deciding on your deductible, which directly affects your premium, can be a bit of a balancing act.

Auto Insurance Policy Comprehensive Coverage
Comprehensive coverage covers damage to your vehicle caused by an event other than a collision or overturn. Examples include fire, theft, vandalism, and falling objects. This also comes with a deductible you select, which is how much you will pay before the insurance company pays the remainder.

Auto Insurance Policy Liability
The official definition of liability from the Ins Web glossary is:
"That portion of the insurance contract which pays and renders service on behalf of an insured for a covered loss arising out of the insured's responsibility to others imposed by law or assumed by contract." In simpler terms, if you are at fault in an accident, liability insurance will pay to cover injuries and property damage costs caused to others in the accident (including your legal defense costs, if applicable).

Bodily injury coverage pays for things like medical costs and lost salary to others; while property damage pays for repairs to other people's property you damaged in the accident (other than your own car). Liability coverage (which is the state mandated part of your policy) is the basic building block of any auto policy, and minimum liability limits vary from state to state.

Young Driver Car Insurance

Young Driver Car Insurance - 5 Ways to Make It Affordable

Are you dreading the day when you have to add your teen to your car insurance policy? You have probably already heard nightmare stories from friends whose young driver car insurance resulted in a 50-100% increase in the family's overall premiums. Ouch!

Many car insurance companies consider drivers under the age of 25 to be at much higher risk for vehicle-related accidents. And if you've driven by your local high school parking at 3:00 lately, you probably know too well the driving habits of young drivers. There are a few things you can do to help your teen become a safer and cheaper-to-insure young driver. The following five ideas will have a positive impact on your young driver car insurance rates:

1. Keep that driving record clean. Even one DUI infraction can multiply a young driver's car insurance premium by a factor of ten. And that's not just for one year. The increased annual premium is likely to stay in effect for three years, costing literally thousands of extra dollars in increased insurance premiums.

2. Keep those grades up. Some car insurance companies offer lower rates to young drivers who qualify as full-time high school or college students and maintain at least a 3.0 grade average. It doesn't hurt to ask about it when you're shopping for car insurance quotes!

3. Consider an accredited driver safety course for your young driver. Some insurance companies sponsor them locally, or check online with the National Safety Council. Your young driver might qualify for a car insurance discount, and is likely to become a safer driver in the process. A double win.

4. Consider a safer car. By avoiding sport cars, expensive cars, and SUV's your young driver may save up to 50% on car insurance premiums. Consider a newer model car with airbags as a cheaper, and safer, alternative for your teen.

Your Best Car Insurance Quote - 3 Things To Do Before You Shop

Everybody knows that to get the best car insurance quote, it's important to shop at least five different car insurance companies. But before you even get those quotes, there are a few things you can do to make yourself (and your vehicle) more attractive to insurers.

1) To Keep Your Credit Clean…
Studies have shown a direct correlation between your credit score and the likelihood that you will file an auto insurance claim. For this reason, almost all insurers pull your credit report. Your credit report shows an insurer if you pay your bills in a timely fashion and have had the same credit accounts for a long time. Someone who does this is considered more stable than someone who pays late and frequently opens and closes accounts. This information is used to create your "insurance risk score", which is one factor that determines your car insurance rate.

Tip:
If your credit history is not strong, start cleaning it up. If there is unusual credit activity on your account, wait about a month for it to return to normal before shopping for car insurance quotes.

2) To Think About the Type of Car You Plan to Buy…
Insurers have a rating system for every car make and model. Most use a system devised by the Insurance Service Office, which starts with the cost of the vehicle and then factors in safety and theft data. Cars are given a rating from 1 to 27, and the higher the number, the higher your premium.

Tip:
Look up your car's relative risk online. If you're trying to keep your car insurance premiums low, it's best to consider this risk before you buy that high-risk sports car.

3) To Pay your insurance premium in full ...
"Fractional premium" fees are usually charged when you pay your annual premium in six-month, quarterly or monthly installments. There is almost always an administrative fee to break down these payments also. This can really add up.

Tip:
Ask about fees for paying in installments. If the fees are small enough, it may be worth it. If not, bite the bullet and pay for the insurance premium in full.

You've cleaned up your credit, chosen a low-risk car and have budgeted to pay your full car insurance premium up-front. Now you're ready to shop for your best car insurance quote!

Your Car Insurance and You

Your Move, Your Car Insurance and You

Part of the beauty of living in a country that has fifty states rather than just one is the fact that you're free to move from place to place without having to spend hours (and dollars) convincing some government bigwigs to give you permission to do it. If you want to pack your bags and move from New York to San Francisco all you have to do is look for an apartment. You cut off your electric, turn on your California phone number…and make some changes in your car insurance.

The car insurance, like many other things, is regulated by state rather than federal government. That means that the regulations that dictate how much, how little and what kind of coverage you're required to have are going to change dramatically as you travel from the east coast to the west-and if you're not ready for it you may find yourself underinsured when the time comes.

The first thing you should do when you hop state lines (after you find your plates and cups, of course, is find out what the mandatory state limits are for minimum coverage. Your mandatory minimum coverage (also known as minimum liability coverage) is the amount of money your insurance company will pay out if you're involved in an accident.

The first number represents the bodily injury liability maximum coverage for a single person injured in an accident; for example, if you were driving and hit a car holding a driver and no passengers that would be the amount your car insurance provider would pay to cover their medical bills and any recuperative therapy.

The second number stands for bodily injury liability for two or more people; in other words, any passengers in their car (or yours) injured as a result of the accident. In the example above (which is the actual minimum insurance requirement guideline for the state of Alabama) the insurance company will pay up to $50,000 in medical bills.

The third number shows how much your insurance company will pay for any property damaged-other vehicles, guard rails, street signs, street lights (yes, it's actually happened-something other than a tractor-trailer successfully sent a street light crashing to the ground after an accident), gas station windows or anything else that happened to get in the way.

The liability minimums are going to change from state to state, meaning you'd be wise to find out what your new state minimums are before contacting your insurer. Your old policy limits might not be up to par for your new home, and while most agents will be able to advise you on what changes you need to make to your policies every once in a while a new agent will slip through the cracks and sell you a policy that doesn't meet state standards. Unfortunately, that's still going to be considered your fault-even if you asked.

There are plenty of resources available on the web that will help you find your state's guidelines. Once you have those numbers in hand you'll officially be ready to become a resident of Monkey's Eyebrow, Arizona-or anyplace else you want to call home.

How to Avoid Being Denied Health Insurance Coverage For Being Overweight

During the past 10 years there has been a dramatic upturn in Obesity and overweight adults in America and as you can imagine it has had a serious cost impact on the U.S. health care system. While many consumers who are denied health insurance coverage for being overweight or rated with a “fat tax” may feel that they are being jilted by the insurance underwriting system. Fair or not treatment for health issues associated with overweight and obese individuals does have significant reprocussions on the economy and the overall cost of health care.

The underwriters use a system for determining your height and weight calculations to determine acceptable ranges. The correlation of the two defines a number called the BMI or “ body mass index” and gives the underwriters an estimate of body fat. According to the department of human health services a BMI of 30 is considered obese and 25 to 29.9 is overweight. If your BMI is higher than 43 you will not likely qualify for traditional health insurance coverage. If your BMI is between 29-43, a health insurer may choose to offer you health insurance with a rated up premium. If you have pre-existing health issues in relation to your weight, such as diabetes, hypertension or heart disease, a health insurer may deny you coverage altogether, even if your BMI is within range. In addition to the BMI the belly fat or waist circumference is a good indicator of future health problems associated with excess weight such as type 2 diabetes and hypertension.

Overweight inactive individuals with a propensity to store excess stomach fat will eventually experience insulin resistance, and or other heart health issues. When underwriters review an application and see that an applicant has a combination of these pre-existing conditions a red flag is immediately raised regarding the application. Underwriters have certain risk criteria they use when combining your BMI with other risk factors such as smoking, and the health issues previously mentioned that might be exacerbated when combined together. Certain combinations of these will result in a decline for health coverage.

The Excess Weight Affect Your Health and Cost of Health care?

While many overweight individuals may feel they are being railroaded by the insurers, the conclusion is that between 2 and 7% of all health care cost are associated with overweight and obesity, which resulted from health issues associated with the treatment of the overweight factors such as hypertension, insulin resistance or diabetes, high cholesterol, cardiac conditions, certain forms of cancer, respiratory issues, inactivity, absenteeism from work, mortality cost, and loss of family income from premature death.

What You can Do to Obtain Approval For A Health Insurance Policy

If you believe you may be overweight and may not qualify for individual or family health coverage, you can take a few precautions prior to submitting a health application. You should find a qualified health insurance broker who offers more than one carrier’s products and is knowledgeable about some of the underwriting requirements or is able to research the best plan for you. You can complete a prescreen application which will allow the broker to communicate with underwriters the issues prior to submitting the application and improve your chances of approval and avoid a potential decline. A decline can really be detrimental to obtaining creditable coverage. You should also review the BMI tables while not all tables are the same this will give you an idea of how close or far you are from current healthy body mass index levels for your height.
Lastly consider improving your health for your own benefit by starting some basic exercise like walking 30 minutes a day, educating yourself about nutritious foods, eliminating empty calories like sugar and saturated fats and creating a lifestyle that makes you feel good, makes you productive, make you look great, reverse some health problems altogether and extend your life and most of all affords you quality health insurance.

UK Home Insurance

How to Find the Best Deals on UK Home Insurance

To find the best deals on UK home insurance is not hard if you put the search into the hands of a specialist broker and allow them to dig out the best deals on your behalf. They will have the experience to search for insurance with some of the leading insurance companies in the UK and deliver the quotes right to you so you can compare.

The home insurance comes in two parts there is buildings insurance and home contents insurance. A policy can be taken individually or you can often make huge savings when combining them both and taking them with the same provider. Buildings insurance covers the shell of your home and home contents insurance protects your belongings inside the home.

Buildings insurance is a must when you take on a mortgage in case in the worst case scenario for example your home should burn down to the ground. If you have insurance this would pay for the cost of clearing the scene and for rebuilding your home from scratch. When taking out buildings insurance you would have to know how much it would cost to totally rebuild your home and of course you would have to take into account such as paying to have the rubble removed before rebuilding.

Home contents insurance would supply you with peace of mind that if you were to lose the contents of your home totally you would have the money to replace everything. While no one likes to consider the worst case scenario it can and does happen so you should prepare for it. The cost of contents insurance would reflect on the amount that you choose to insure. With this in mind you do not want to over insure or under insure. Therefore the easiest way to go about calculating is to go around the home and take an inventory of all items in your home. You should take care not to miss anything so do not forget to take into account what you have stored in your loft and such as cupboards. Even the smallest of items would soon mount up to a size able sum.

When taking out UK home insurance you have to be very careful in checking what is and is not included in the protection. Certain items such as expensive jewelry or collections might not be included in the policy and if they are then providers will usually put a limit on a single item. The items such as computers and high tech gadgets would also have a limit on them as to how much you are able to claim back if they are stolen. Check to see what cover the insurance provides as some will offer to pay out the price to replace items at the cost they are today and others will take into account depreciation.

The UK home insurance can work out cheaper if you take some precautions to make yourself be less of a ‘risk’. You can save on the premiums if you install a good security alarm in the home and if you have smoke alarms. Another way you can save on contents insurance is by increasing the amount you would pay in excess. All providers would add in excess and this is the amount you would have to pay before the insurance company would pay out.
